Q: Do you have to know Metroid canon to play here?
A: No, but it will help a lot.  We'd offer checking the Metroid Wiki out as it's very informative!

Q: So can I app someone from Metroid?
A: Yes as the game plans on deviating from canon as it progresses. Further details will come later.

Q: Who can we app?
A: We'd say anyone, but that's no exactly true here. Much as we love series far and wide, some don't fit so well in the space adventure survival setting. If you're not sure, then shot us a message about it.

The Prime series is what most people know of when Metroid is mentioned, so I've been doing some work the universe during that time frame and how it can drag characters. Phazon obviously will play a huge role and it's a go to magical item when you need a wizard to do something for you.

So here's the idea; A planet hat houses a transporter is struck by a Leviathan seed and with the transporter now infected by Phazon, it starts sucking up useful candidates to expand itself across the galaxy. For the beginning of the game I'm hoping to keep everyone in a central location to build CR and gather a larger player base before heading off onto other planets.  Luckily for those being tossed onto a hostile planet and doused in space radiation, the BSL has already taken attention and offers to 'help'.

Pirates will appear early on as a second faction, but will be less open to fresh meat. Canon doesn't dictate well on if Pirates are a group or a species, but I'm leaning with group to open more possibilities down the road.

On the other hand there is the Federation who acts like big brother. I'd have to do some more digging into the Metroid universe to really understand them so I ask for some time here. To me, I've seen them as good intentions gone wrong espeically after Fusion while Pirates are simply Chaotic every which way.

Further on the faction side are companies and independent planets or being a lone wolf if you so please. Again the faction system will be one of the most important aspects of the game and will take a lot of time to really organize. As said above, the beginning is more about gaining CR than getting a faction.

After a few weeks or so people are allowed to leave the planet after being declared okay, apart from being slightly corrupted is the player choices for further developments. I'd really like to get cross canon interaction and bare with me this is going to be radical by normal means; but I say set a Activity system that requires a player have more than 20 comments outside their canon and a log of at least ten comments. I don't think it's too much, but it helps get people across the gap and cuts down on squatting. May be willing to make it harder if anyone thinks it needs to be.

Metroid being what it is will make magic based characters difficult to play. The series is pretty hard nosed about being science fiction and magic doesn't fit all the well; however Phazon can act in its place and it readily does with its mysterious ways. Along with being difficult for magic, it is not a friendly canon to humor and places a good emphasis on survival. That in mind, I'm trying to find a means to ask players if they think they're character can survive or behave in an atmosphere like that.
